Earthquake hits Japan 2011

Earlier today an 8.9 earthquake together with a tsunami hit Japan and killed 300 so far.
Tsunami to our Pacific coastline as well as South America.

Pray for:

• Families of those killed
• Especially those in Japan close to the epicenter
• Those who are injured, lost homes, loved ones, etc.
• International students from Japan
• Families of people currently in Japan
• Protection over our west coast
• That this disaster will bring many closer to Christ and that they will look to God for answers
• That Christians will be courageous and hopeful in these situations

Pray for missionaries in Mexico and Africa

I received an email from the missions coordinator at my home church about prayer requests from the missionaries we support in various countries around the world.  These two were highlighted as of late:

• Nathan Thompson (the brother of my home pastor) and his family are lifelong missionaries to Mexico

and they are now a target for the drug cartel lords.  Please pray for their continued coverage, favor and safety as they faithfully and fearlessly continue their ministry and furthering of God's kingdom in Mexico. 

• Phil and E.J. Blohm are missionaries to Africa and currently studying to get their pilot licenses to do air missions to Africa.  If you're unfamiliar with this type of ministry, air missions are an extremely effective way to get the Word to unreached tribes in a fast, non-invasive way by dropping care packages, radios, etc.  I know my church often provides parachutes for these types of ministry.  Their request is for funding for this training as it is extensive and they are having troubles financially.

Get Excited, there are many amazingness to come! Jesus is great y'all

Halo everyone! how are you guys doing? well i hope fine like me :) first of all i wanna say thanks to Jess Olson who brought up this great idea about International Student Ministry on this campus at UWEC under InterVarsity Christian Fellowship! what a blessing that we managed to get a group of people who share the same passion which is to spread the love of Jesus Christ to even a broader extend; to the whole world. Woa woa woa, wait a minute! we don't wanna take this too fast, what it really means is we wanna build a relationship with people around the world through Jesus Christ! Isn't that awesome? Um yeah. Duh.

Anyway, i'm super busy as everybody else too, so i'm just gonna make it brief! My name is Sten ivan and i am from Indonesia. I am one of the ISM member and i'm obviously really excited about this ministry and looking forward to work hard on it and put all the love to make it really meaningful and according to God's will. The purpose of this ministry basically to build a friendship, yea you hear me, a friendship! Because foreigners are awesome with their cute accent when they speak english and ineresting traditions and belief in nonsense superstitious thing, okay i'm not mocking but just kidding, it's called culture okay! face it. Anyway our plan is as i said earlier, to be a friend to any international students that want to exchange culture or simply want to hang out with us and our goal is to be there for them. So bear with me guys, trust me its gonna be amazing. God is great, and nothing is impossible under His command. I know some of you may say:" but i'm afraid i can't get along" or "we're just too different and they're not gonna understand things i said because they're not good at english"( okay, that is not true, we all know foreigners especially Chinese are all Einstein's grandkids, 50 gold medal in 2010 Olympic Y'all) the thing is! get out from your comfort zone, interact with people from different culture! Build a relationship through Christ, think about how many people we can touch with this friendship.

So, i gotta go back to my life and do fun stuff like homework(Ha yea sten, super fun) but i just wanna thank to God for blessing this ministry and i hope people will interested in this community of Christ. Have a great night!

PS: so i missed this a lot, here is the picture of my friends back when i'm in Malaysia. We used to have a bible study from many people around the world and we go to church together. It just feel so much alive with diversity. I really hope we can create this environment in here at UWEC. Let's make it happen guys!
